San Bernardino County

county San Bernardino County is part of the California state and had a population of 1,709,434 at the latest census in 2000. In 2009, the Finance Department of California estimated that the population had grown to over 2 million. In the continental United States, San Bernardino County is considered the biggest one based on area. Its area is also larger then any of the nine states that are smallest.

The San Bernardino vast County includes thinly populated mountains and deserts that stretch from the periphery of the area of San Bernardino that is densely populated, until the border with Nevada and the river of Colorado. Geographically, the county it’s located in the southeast of the California state. It is the only California county that borders both Arizona and Nevada. Only two California counties are bordering more than a US state, one is San Bernardino County and the other one is Modoc County from northeast corner of California state, bordering Nevada and Oregon.

San Bernardino city is the county seat. The county is considered as part of the region called Inland Empire of Southern California, together with Riverside county. Having little over 20,000 square miles, San Bernardino County is slightly larger than the combined states of Rhode Island, Maryland, Delaware, and Massachusetts.

In the San Bernardino County it covers some of the desert, between Interstate 40 and Interstate 15, including also the Needles city, next to the river of Colorado and the city of Barstow, at the intersection of the 15 and 40 Interstates. On the west of the Death Valley, is Trona. Victor Valley is the largest metro area of the San Bernardino’s part of Mojave Desert and incorporates four cities: Victorville, Apple Valley, Adelanto and Hesperia.

Joshua Tree Park covers the county in the south, near Twentynine Palms. Near and in the west you can find Yucca Valley, Morongo Valley and Joshua Tree.

The National Forest is spread all over the mountains and contains Running Springs, Forest Falls, Lake Arrowhead, Big Bear Lake, Crestline and Big Bear City.
