geographyvictorville The city of Victorville can be found to the SW from the Mojave Desert, at a distance of 80 miles from the city of Los Angeles, 35 miles from Barstow, 47 miles from Palmdale and 36 miles from the city of San Bernardino. The city of Victorville is also where the office of the government of the San Bernardino County has its Mojave Desert Branch.

To the east from Victorville you will find Apple Valley, to the south you can find Hesperia and to the west there is Adelanto. The river Mojave can be seen flowing sporadically through the city of Victorville. The City Hall elevation is at around 2950 ft over the level of the sea.

The total area occupied by the city is 189 sq. km, out of which only 1.3 sq. km. is made of water, the rest being land.

The climate during the summer is quite hot, even more than what Los Angeles has, thanks to the neighboring Mojave Desert. Still, it is still cooler by 10 to 15 degrees than it is in the desert of Colorado. The Victorville weather station was placed here in 1917 and its records show that the climate of Victorville is one with hot summer and cool winters, while being arid at the same time. The temperatures in January usually range from 30F to 58F, while in July they go from 60F to 98F. The temperature which set the record here was 116F, in the year 2002, on July 10th. The lowest temperature ever recorded was -1F, in 1949, on January 17. The average number of days that have highs of 90F are 109 each year, while the days with lows of 32F are 79.

The amount of rain you can expect yearly in Victorville is around 5.5 inches and there are a total of 25 days each year when precipitations occur.
